Maintenance of Oil Immersed Transformers

2024-06-24

Oil immersed transformers are commonly used distribution equipment in power systems, and the regular maintenance is required to ensure their normal operation. The following are the contents of maintenance for oil immersed transformers:

1. Oil Level Inspection

Insufficient oil level can lead to unstable operation of the transformer, so it is necessary to regularly check whether the oil level meets the standard. Generally, it is required that the oil level of the transformer is not less than half of the bottom of the oil tank.

2. Oil Quality Inspection

The quality of oil directly affects the operational efficiency of the transformer. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly check whether the oil quality meets the standards. Generally, the color of the oil should be transparent or slightly yellow, and without any odor.

3. Lightning Protection Measures

The oil immersed transformer may face weather effects such as lightning strikes during operation, so the regular lightning protection measures are needed, including retightening the loose cables around the transformer and installing the lightning protection straps.

4. Insulation Test

In order to ensure the safe operation of the oil immersed transformer, it is necessary to conduct insulation tests regularly, usually every six months, and the test results should comply with the national standards.

5. Cleaning

The oil immersed transformer may be affected by the dust and stains during long-term operation, so it is necessary to regularly clean the transformer to ensure its internal and external cleanliness.

It should be noted that safety must be ensured during the maintenance process of the oil immersed transformer. Before operation, the power should be cut off and protective measures should be taken to avoid accidental injuries such as electric shock to the workers.
